PARSEC Project @ UW Stout
The PARSEC photogrammetry project is an NSF funded lab providing scanning services for research and learning at UW Stout currently located in the Fab Lab (VocRehab 120).
What is PARSEC?
PARSEC was originally developed to support scanning experiments at UW Stout both for research and for content creation in many different courses on campus. We support research in computer graphics and computer vision as well as digital humanities and aim to enrich the curriculum in many programs including Game Design and Development, Animation, Professional Communication and Emerging Media, Industrial Design, and Fashion Design. It is located on campus in the UW Stout FabLab in room 120 in the Vocational Rehabilitation building.
Capture Shape and Texture
Human-scale shape capturing setup consisting of 120 Canon cameras positioned for capturing object of roughly human size and capable of triggering nearly simultaneously.
Capture Complex Appearance
Utilize the LED light dome with 156 evenly spaced lighting directions designed to sample appearance properties of objects roughly the size of a human head.
Support Archives and Preservation
We aim to support GLAMs (galleries, libraries, archives, and Museums) to preserve their collections and enable wider access through digital exhibition.
